There’s a new sound at Camberwell Fresh Food Market!
As part of a six-month community trial, a community piano has been installed inside the Market, ready for anyone to sit down and play. During the week, it will remain indoors, and on Sundays, Rotary Balwyn will move it outside to add to the lively atmosphere of the Rotary Sunday Market.
The piano has been sourced from Pianos Recycled and generously donated by Rotary Balwyn, giving a second life to a beautiful instrument while bringing new energy into the Market. It’s been tuned to concert pitch and set up with a secured stool, so it’s always ready for action.
Already, shoppers have been stopping to listen, play a tune, and share their experience on social media – with wonderful feedback flowing in about how much they enjoy the community piano.
We’ll also be hosting special performances by local pianists throughout the trial, so keep an eye out for upcoming times to enjoy live music while you shop.
Come along, have a go, or simply enjoy the sound of music filling the Market!
