Here are five tasty cheeses and our top seasonal items to pair with them.

Ah, cheese.  Salty, creamy, gooey delicious cheese. It’s a firm favourite amongst most of us, and by combining your favourite fromage with other tasty, seasonal market ingredients you can mix up your flavours, depending on your mood.

Here are five popular kinds of cheese, and some tasty pairings for you to try.

Le Delice De Bourgogne

Take the ever-popular le Delice de Bourgogne; a French classic triple cream cheese, as a perfect example.  Maria from Nick & Sue’s Gourmet Deli recommends a simple pairing with sweet muscatels.

Chatting to Dina from Camberwell Market Deli, she suggests an alternate pairing of freshly shelled walnuts and a drizzling of local honey.

Holy Goat La Luna

Maria suggests that this popular, locally made goat’s cheese is just perfect with a simple slice of fresh pear.

Truffled Manchego

This decadent sheep’s milk Spanish cheese is one of Dina’s favourites.  She suggests wrapping some lightly blanched asparagus spears in Spanish Prosciutto before grating over a light sprinkling of the cheese.

Neufchatel Cheese

With a texture very similar to cream cheese, Maria swears by pairing her French neufchatel with smoked salmon.  Perfection on a bagel, we say!

Meredith Dairy Marinated Goat Cheese

Another local classic, Meredith Dairy marinated goat cheese must be one of the most versatile around.  Dina opts for a generous dollop of rocket pesto on a lavosh, before adding the cheese.
